1The Challenge
Driven by the rapid pace of technological developments in the language services market, a Spanish LSP wanted to build a solid understanding of AI and generative AI.
The objective was to develop the knowledge needed to independently explore and assess the growing range of AI solutions, understand their potential applications, and make informed decisions about whether and how to introduce them into the business.
2The Solution
Through FutureBridge's AI Transformation service, LSP Growth developed a tailored training program providing an introduction to generative AI and its applications in the language services industry.
The program was delivered through one-hour video sessions over 10 weeks and covered both the fundamentals of AI and its practical applications.
- AI fundamentals — introduced the history and evolution of AI, key concepts and terminology, and the fundamentals of how large language models generate human-like text.
- Prompt engineering — explored the use of ChatGPT and other AI-based writing tools, including effective prompting techniques, zero-shot and few-shot prompting, and iterative refinement.
- Evaluating AI output — examined the strengths and limitations of generative AI, with a focus on assessing output quality and recognizing common errors and biases.
- Language-industry use cases — explored applications in translation and proofreading, project management, communications and automation, including potential integration into existing workflows.
- Risks and responsible use — addressed the potential risks associated with indiscriminate use of generative AI, particularly in translation and other language-related activities.
The program was designed to evolve with the client's needs, with subsequent sessions adapted based on the topics and questions emerging during the training.
3The Results
- ✓Assess AI solutions independently and determine which tools, if any, could be relevant to their production activities.
- ✓Use AI more consciously in administrative and other business activities.
- ✓Identify relevant use cases where generative AI can provide a genuine benefit.
- ✓Recognize potential risks and limitations, particularly where the use of AI could introduce additional risk rather than create value.
